The term, Highly Sensitive Person, was coined by Elaine Aron who researching high sensitivity in 1991. A more scientific term sometimes used is Sensory-Processing Sensitivity. While many who are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) have experienced being called “too sensitive” in their lives, there’s much more to the term than referring to someone who is emotional.
